Exploration for Broken Hill or Aggeneys type Proterozoic stratiform base metal massive sulphides within the Hutchison Group in the Mount Shannan area, north of Cleve, has included the acquisition, processing and interpretation of airborne magnetic, radiometric and INPUT EM surveys (400 line km of AEM flown in November 1980, and 1655 line km of mag-rad flown in August 1981), and of follow-up ground magnetic, IP and Sirotem surveys, plus geological mapping, extensive geochemical sampling, and the drilling of 41 shallow RAB holes, plus 1 diamond hole to 138.3 m total depth and 2 percussion holes for a total of 472 m. As part of the evaluation of 19 EM anomalies, some of which have associated magnetic features and geochemical anomalism, occurrences of minor zinc and lead mineralisation were delineated at the Silver Monarch and Iragie prospects.
