Exploration for Olympic Dam type IOCG style gold and base metal mineralisation in Proterozoic basement rocks north-west of Lake Eyre sought to identify coincident magnetic and gravity anomalies. During early May 1985, a 3235.5 line km fixed-wing airborne magnetic and radiometric survey was flown over the whole licence area by Geoterrex, along east-west flight lines spaced 500 m apart, using a mean sensor height of 90 m above ground level. Follow-up ground magnetic and gravity surveys were conducted over 8 selected aeromagnetic anomalies, with 20 line km of profiles read, but the results in terms of residual anomaly magnitude were deemed insignificant for the targets sought, and so it was decided that no further work was warranted on the subject tenement.
