The following Tertiary units were identified : Kongorong Fm, Narrawaturk Fm, Buccleuch Fm, Ettrick Fm, Mannum Fm, Kalibar Limestone, Parilla Sand and North West Bend Fm. All of these units are separated by unconformities. Erosional surfaces, episodes of silicification, possibly silcretization, ?lateritic palaeosol, and 3 or 4 karst cycles were recognized. Evidence of two well-developed palaeodrainage systems superimposed on the Tertiary floor is apparent, and Early Oligocene carbonaceous clays and lignite were located.
