Exploration undertaken over an area located 60 km west of Port Augusta targeted possible Broken Hill or Aggeneys - Gamsberg type massive Pb-Zn deposits within Early Proterozoic Hutchison Group banded iron formation metasediments, and also any Early Proterozoic conglomeratic gold. Previous company exploration data was compiled at 1:100,000 scale, including aeromagnetic contours from surveys flown for Esso (EL 391) and BHP (SML 204, SML 205). Regional geological mapping, ground magnetic surveys and geochemical sampling (rock chip, soil, stream sediment) located 4 base metal - anomalous areas. Follow-up work included RAB drilling (76 holes totalling 1670 m), the re-logging of drill core lithologies in SADME DDH CC1 and DDH CC2, 1:5000 scale detailed geological mapping of the 4 prospect grids, plus detailed, grid-based moving and fixed-loop Sirotem surveys, and percussion drilling of the strongest bedrock TEM anomalies. The 2 percussion holes (total 301 m) put down at Triumph prospect located only a conductive pyritic black shale in PDH HB1, and moderately base metal - anomalous dolerite (0.26% Pb and 0.6% Zn) in PDH HB2. Assaying of stored separates from previous heavy mineral gravel sampling by Stockdale, and of stored samples from Esso exploratory drillholes, plus new geochemical soil sampling over the Corunna Conglomerate, did not locate anomalous gold.
