Leucogranitic plugs within basement in the south-western part of the Mount Painter Complex were investigated as potential hosts for primary niobium - tantalum, beryllium, titanium and yttrium mineralisation. Aerial magnetic and radiometric surveys were undertaken, with follow-up geological mapping and petrology. While the potential for the type of mineralisation sought was downgraded, new evidence has indicated that local breccia bodies in the Adelaidean cover may represent Palaeozoic diatremes.
