Limited PNC investigations targeting possible economic primary uranium deposits in the Kalabity area, 60 km north of Olary, included reprocessing of gravity data, 1:25,000 scale geological mapping, rock chip sampling for geochemical and petrographic determinations, field inspection of known radioactive mineral prospects, and ground checking of additional, previously unreported radiometric anomalies. A davidite - rich pegmatitic milky quartz and magnetite/ilmenite occurrence in heavily-veined Palaeoproterozoic gneiss, assaying up to 4% U and 1250 ppm Th, was discovered 9.5 km east of Kalabity Homestead. This prospect had not been detected by earlier airborne radiometric surveys, but was deemed to be too small to warrant further investigation. As part of some regional geophysical studies supported by PNC, 4 basement outcrop shallow drill cores were evaluated by Sydney University researchers for certain petrophysical properties, viz. dry bulk density, magnetic susceptibility, electrical conductivity and IP frequency domain parameters.
