Exploration for possible intrusive igneous sources of diamonds and for possible Broken Hill type economic stratabound Early Proterozoic base metal deposits in the Mount Bosanquet area, 30 km south of Kimba, has comprised digital image processing and interpretation of previous company and SAEI aeromagnetic data, loam and rock chip sampling, 1:50,000 scale geological mapping, airphoto geomorphological studies, gravity, IP and ground magnetic surveying, and diamond drilling (2 holes, total 138.6 m). None of the objective buried carbonatite or kimberlite intrusions were discovered, only one kimberlitic indicator mineral (an ilmenite) was detected, and no anomalous base metal values were returned.
