Exploration for base metal mineralisation near Anabama Hill, 40 km south-east of Manna Hill, comprised rock chip sampling and RAB/RC drilling (58 holes, total 1847 m). Anomalous copper (to 0.19% Cu) and zinc were intersected in hydrothermally altered or metasomatised Umberatana Group metasediments lying within a few kilometres of the Anabama Granite. All of the mineralised intersections were found in zones of low total magnetic intensity, which met with expectations arising from the exploration metallogenic model of hydrothermal demagnetisation of shear zones cutting through the batholith and nearby country rocks. Areas of anomalous tungsten within metasomatised dolomite, and gold within sulphidic quartz veins, were also located by rock chip sampling of altered metasediments.
