Exploration in an area north of Fowlers Bay, for shear zone hosted Cu-Au mineralisation associated with emplacement of Hiltaba Suite granite plutons, comprised making a detailed regional geological interpretation, interpretation of SAEI regional magnetic data plus the acquisition and interpretation of an infill aeromagnetic survey, regional and infill calcrete and soil geochemical sampling, ground magnetic surveys and RAB/aircore drilling (27 holes, total 862 m). Gold and zinc assay values peaking at 0.36 g/t Au and 635 ppm Zn, together with minor copper and lead and traces of nickel and platinum group metals, were returned from bottom-hole sampling, but these anomalous values did not coincide with any calcrete gold anomalies. Such results imply that calcrete analysis results from sampling over this area will only truly reflect the tenor of basement mineralisation in places where the overlying Tertiary sand and limestone cover rocks are thin or absent. The basement geochemical anomalism is currently still open to the north leading away from the Quondong prospect drilling traverse, and warrants checking by further ground magnetic surveying and drilling.
