Exploration for possible buried stratabound base metal deposits within Hutchison Group metasediments east of Kimba comprised an airborne magnetic-radiometric survey, ground magnetic surveys, RC drilling (338 holes, total 14,663 m) and one 279 m deep diamond drillhole. Most of the observed magnetic features were found to be due to magnetite-bearing amphibolites or granitoids having weak and discontinuous base metal geochemistry. Reconnaisance air-core drilling traverses made on the Galah copper-lead-zinc prospect returned elevated metal values from a calcsilicate near the base of the Warrow Quartzite, peaking at 2750 ppm Zn, 580 ppm Cu and 800 ppm Pb, but no anomalous assays were recorded in follow-up diamond drilling.
