Following the signing of an eighteen month exploration joint venture agreement with Stockdale, farminee Mobil Energy Minerals undertook continuation of the uranium search over the anomalous ground lying east and south-east of Lake Gilles, besides addressing the base metal potential of the Lower Proterozoic Hutchison Group metasedimentary sequence in the area. Ground magnetic, gravity, EM and track etch (radon) ground radioactivity surveys were run, plus semi-detailed and detailed geological mapping with related rock chip, soil and stream sediment sampling, and targetted RAB drilling (40 holes, total 1524 m). No uranium mineralisation of significance was disclosed, but the work programme successfully located several above-average Pb, Zn and Cu values in the Hutchison Group rocks at Middleback South, Katunga Hill and Cooyerdoo Hill.
