Exploration for possible buried diapir or diatreme - associated diamonds, copper and gold, within an intensively faulted, folded and eroded area of the northern Flinders Ranges situated 35 km east and south-east of Lyndhurst, comprised gravel, stream sediment, soil, rock chip and bulk rock sampling, regional BLEG sampling, acquisition of an airborne magnetic/radiometric survey, helimag sampling, prospect geological mapping at 1:5000 and 1:10,000 scales in the vicinity of old copper mine workings, related IP, ground magnetic and CSAMT surveying, and RC (10 holes, total 1415 m) and diamond drilling (11 holes, total 2970 m) of geochemical and IP anomalies. No kimberlitic indicator minerals were recovered from ground follow-up of 36 selected aeromagnetic anomalies, and low order copper and gold values showed that there is little potential for finding a significant economic metalliferous resource in the area. Best drillhole mineralised intersections were 3.65 m @ 5.02% Cu and 20.9 m @ 1.11% Cu at Stones Claim, where the altered vein-style mineralisation giving soil Cu anomalism to >300 ppm over a 1.5 km strike length is truncated by faulting, and elsewhere, 3 m @ 0.43 g/t Au from the Mallee mine prospect. Minor disseminated native copper was also intersected at Stones Claim in drillhole DD92MC1 over the depth interval 165.5 to 185.85 m.
