Exploration licence 871 Area B contains Adelaidean sediments of the Callanna Beds, Burra Group and Umberatana Group overlying the Carpentarian Mount Painter Complex. The area is being investigated for stratiform copper mineralisation within the above units based on the Zambian Copperbelt model. Stratiform mineralisation in the form of pyrite and chalcopyrite has been intersected in drillholes within the Blue Mine Conglomerate, with grades of 12 metres of 0.13% Cu (including 4 metres at 0.2% Cu) being encountered. This indicates a favourable depositional environment. Only one drillhole has tested the Blue Mine Conglomerate below the level of oxidation, all encouraging surface anomalies having previously been thoroughly tested by various companies. Thus potential remains for finding stratiform copper mineralisation at depth, below the level of oxidation.
