Diamond exploration undertaken along part of the western flank of the Peake and Denison Ranges, 120 km north-east of Coober Pedy, was aimed at discovering the source(s) of nine microdiamonds and of widespread diamondiferous kimberlitic indicator minerals previously recovered from bulk samples collected in the adjacent EL 1929. Work carried out comprised photogeological studies, aerial helimag and fixed wing magnetic / radiometric surveys, follow-up gravity and ground magnetic surveys, limited bulk sampling of stream sediments and mineragraphic analyses, plus aircore and RC drilling of selected coincident subtle magnetic anomalies and photointerpreted circular features (4 holes, total 547 m). No kimberlite or kimberlitic grains were recovered, but the true nature of the area's prospectivity remains largely untested owing to lack of funds.
