56 RC holes totalling 1003 m were drilled near Owen, west of the Alma and East Owen Faults, in areas considered prospective for Tertiary glassmaking sands. Here the Quaternary clay overburden to the target sand beds is generally 4 to 6 metres thick. No white, clear-grade glass sand was intersected, but 14 of 25 composite drill cuttings samples were found suitable for use as amber-grade glass sand.
