The project aim was to determine the petrogenetic significance of biotite found in granulite facies metamorphic rocks from the Kenmore Park and Everard areas of the Musgrave Block, and to provide brief mineralogical data on 92 rock samples to indicate their metamorphic facies association, so as to assist in determination of the problematic regional amphibolite facies / granulite facies boundary. Results indicate that the biotite is in equilibrium with other minerals in the Kenmore Park granulites, and thus is not a later product of regressive alteration. Biotites may therefore be able to be used in age determination to indicate the probable date of granulite facies metamorphism.

Notes: Envelope contains only a copy of Amdel final report 923 (which was also issued as RB 73/109). Note: there is uncertainty around the P no. identity of the samples which were taken from the Kenmore Park region, as evidenced by a corrective note made by ?Colin Conor against the draft Amdel final report of December 1972, which appear to have been ignored in preparing the subject later version of March 1973. A copy of Colin's sample re-attribution note has been added to the downloadable report data, together with a copy of a sample location key map that was found inside of the hard copy draft report. Geographic Locality: Kenmore Park Station;Everard Ranges Doc No: Env 02218 Amdel 00923
