Exploration was carried out to evaluate the pozzolanic properties of volcanic ash occurring in the vicinity of Lake Leake. Twelve auger holes were drilled, from which bulk samples of up to 45 kg were collected and used in concrete mixing trials. The results were not encouraging, and no further work was undertaken.
