In follow-up to previous exploratory drilling carried out on Pacminex' SMLs 649 and 650, another 15 open rotary mud precollared /diamond cored tail vertical drillholes with a total penetration of 3616 feet (including 137 feet of coring) were drilled on their three Coorong Project licences during May 1972 to investigate the lateral continuity of two downhole radiometric anomalies. Two of the latest holes were aborted: PMX19 (TD 35 feet) due to lost circulation, and PMX22 (TD 230 feet) due to stuck drill pipe. The overall drill core recovery was poor (43%). Drill core recovered from hole PMX13a, located one quarter mile west of PMX11, returned maximum core sample assay values of 30 ppm eU3O8, 0.09% V2O5, plus traces of molybdenum. Drill core recovered from hole PMX7a, located 100 feet south of PMX7, returned maximum core sample assay values of 60 ppm eU3O8, 0.12% V2O5, plus traces of molybdenum, shale oil, and 1:1 weight/weight montan wax.
