An area of several square miles surrounding Arkarooola Homestead has been explored for possible economic copper occurences, which could include deeper lode extensions at several abandoned mines. Aerial reconnaissance and ground prospecting traverses revealed widespread shows of weak secondary copper mineralisation in the area, many with minor old workings on them. Percussion drilling of 34 holes (including 8 holes for a total of 1900 feet within SML 201 that are not reported elsewhere), plus logging and analysis of drill cuttings samples, were carried out. Disseminated to low grade copper mineralisation (malachite + chalcopyrite) was encountered at the Mount Jacob, McLeashes Mine, Welcome Mine and Wall prospects, in association with quartz, limonite and goethite - filled NE-SW trending vein systems, but the Pebble and Coxcomb prospects were barren.
