Further evaluation of the development potential and marketability of white clay deposits found in the Mount Crawford area, that contain around 12 million tonnes of quartz-kaolin material, has been conducted by a new interested party, Springton Clays, after the release of former title to the deposits by Australian Blue Metal and CSR in February 1970. A five-ton parcel of composited clays was sent to Japan for third-party examination on behalf of Nissho-Iwai (Australia) Pty Ltd, and later, another, 14 ton sample was also sent to Japan for large-scale testing reported on by Kanematsu-Gosho (Australia) Pty Ltd.
