Exploration over the eastern flank of the Musgrave Block to the north of De Rose Hill, for potential buried Giles Complex layered intrusive bodies, comprised SAEI data interpretation, airborne magnetic, radiometric and electromagnetic surveys, ground magnetic and TEM surveys, soil and rock sampling and aircore drilling (40 holes, total 219 m). No anomalous assays were returned from the magnetite-rich granitoids which accounted for three of the SAEI aeromagnetic anomalies originally targetted. The inversely polarised Cavanagh magnetic anomaly subsequently identified by Rio Tinto's aerial surveying, which later proved to be coincident with a dipping TEM bedrock conductor, returned slightly elevated Ni, Pt, Pd, Mg, Cr and Co from drillhole samples of layered ultramafics.
