Base metal and gold exploration was carried out near the Great Gladstone Mine, approximately 15 km southeast of Quorn. Preliminary rock chip samples obtained within a north - plunging anticline were anomalous for Cu and Ba, and one barite / haematite vein assayed 1 ppb Au. Locally, other inferred barite / haematite veins initially interpreted from cross-cutting aeromagnetic structures and later located by a gravity survey, are considered to be favourable targets for economic mineralisation.
