Gold, PGE and base metals were targeted in the Black Hill Norite, which outcrops in an area 30 km north of Mannum. No alteration indicative of gold mineralisation was observed in outcrop, and no significant base or precious metal values were detected by re-assays of diamond cores remaining from previous company mineral exploration programmes. A geochemical study of metal enrichment trends within the drill cores, searching for subtle evidence of Sudbury-type magmatic fractionation of massive sulphides, found that possible PGE targets of high drilling risk were indicated at depths exceeding 400 m.
