Exploration carried out immediately south-east of Naracoorte targeted possible gold and base metals mineralisation which might occur in basement rocks under 100 m thickness of cover, within an inferred northerly continuation from Tasmania of the highly prospective Cambrian Mount Read Volcanics. The conduct of ground geophysical surveys based on SAEI aeromagnetic data revealed three coincident gravity and magnetic anomalies which will require drilling to assess their economic significance.
