Three, or possibly four, raised beach ridge deposits were located along the coastline of the western Eyre Peninsula region during a reconnaissance survey of potential fossil strandline and foredune trapsites looking for economic heavy mineral sand occurrences, but none were regarded as prospective for hosting substantial, mineable inland deposits of heavy minerals. Two present-day heavy mineral beach sands occurrences were located, but these also are of insufficient volume to be deemed commercial. Two occurrences of good industrial quality silica sand were located. One is associated with a heavy mineral occurrence, and the other is already under lease by BHP.
