Geochemical exploration conducted over the width of central Yorke Peninsula between Curramulka and Minlaton was directed at finding potential Cu-Au deposits in Mesoproterozoic basement, and Mississippi Valley type Pb-Zn deposits in Cambrian carbonate sequences. Rock chip assays of mottled, visibly sulphide-bearing Parara Limestone sampled at Curramulka Quarry confirmed the presence of MVT mineralisation, but areally significant anomalies were absent in regional calcrete sampling.
