The investigation embraced by this report was initiated as a special project under the direction of the Chief Geologist, with the object of assessing the oil prospects of the Cambrian rocks of Yorke Peninsula. Following a preliminary reconnaissance in March, 1956, it was appreciated that insufficient outcrop and borehole data was available in two critical areas for sound geological interpretation, and sites for two stratigraphic boreholes were decided upon. Geological mapping and a thorough search of previous literature and records was continued as boring progressed, and the composite results are contained herein.
