Exploration for possible mesothermal Cu-Au mineralisation was undertaken over the Padthaway Ridge between Coonalpyn and Tintinara, in an area of promising northwest-trending aeromagnetic fabric. Reconnaissance calcrete and soil geochemical sampling along roadsides revealed low order Zn-Au-As anomalies which may be indicators of buried mineralisation, existing either within Kanmantoo Group metasediments or else concentrated along shear zones which were active during granite plutonism. Regional calcrete geochemical sampling along interdunal corridors was recommended, but was not undertaken due to the mineral industry economic downturn at the end of 1997.
