Exploration for possible economic base metal and gold occurrences in the Anabama area has comprised semi-detailed geological mapping at 1:21,600 scale, rock chip sampling (502 samples), regional and infill stream sediment sampling (1034 samples), petrographic studies, and the investigation of old abandoned mines. No high grade ore was encountered, although small pockets of rich gold were found still remaining in some of the old workings at the Wadnaminga Goldfield. It would appear that here the ore-bearing structures are fractures, but these are limited in extent. It is considered that the mineralisation remaining below ground in the old mines is insufficient to warrant further work.
