Investigation of the quartz - (sulphide) gossan vein systems within Proterozoic metasedimentary bedrock at the alluvial Teetulpa Goldfield north of Yunta, for stratigraphic and structural clues to loci of primary gold mineralisation elsewhere in the Plumbago region, initially comprised geological field and photogeological mapping, the running of experimental RRMIP surveys over known gold-bearing veins, petrographic and petrogenetic studies of lode materials, assaying of stream sediment and outcrop rock chip samples, and interpretation of previous aeromagnetic survey data. The latter work led to the identification of a possible Telfer-style epigenetic, stratabound gold prospect underlying a buried domal, shelf-facies Adelaidean sedimentary structure located near the Four Brothers Homestead north-east of the Teetulpa workings. After CSR Ltd entered into a joint venture agreement with licensee Jarmand Minerals in February 1984 and became operator, soil gas sampling and ground magnetic traverses were run across the concealed domal target, while aeromagnetic data reprocessing and magnetic modelling were undertaken to resolve optimum sites for drilling at the culmination of the dome, where conditions were thought favourable for the formation of a gold deposit by solutions migrating laterally away from the cross-cutting, auriferous Teetulpa Fracture Zone. Two percussion drillholes (to 75 m and 176 m respectively) thereafter tested the chosen culmination without intersecting either the target Wilyerpa Formation or significant anomalous metal geochemistry. CSR withdrew from project participation on 16/1/1985, and the licensee surrendered title to the ground shortly thereafter.
