Two structurally controlled Cu-Au targets, plus a possible kimberlite pipe and a coal prospect, were interpreted in re-processed geophysical data derived from an area approximately 55 km north-northwest of Coober Pedy. The area was seen to contain several structural deformation sites in probable iron formations that are associated with a major shear zone, the Mabel Creek Fault. However, estimated target depths of between 150-400 m were regarded as excessive, with the licensee thus unable to attract a joint venture partner to fund test drilling of these geophysical targets, and so the exploration title to base metals was surrendered. Part of the licenced area was retained for further exploration addressing opal potential, following on from ground reconnaissance and geomorphological analysis.
