Gold and base metal exploration conducted near the SA Lower North township of Bute, 140 km north-west of Adelaide, comprised the conduct of IP and ground magnetic surveys and RC drilling (4 holes, total 350 m). Two holes drilled on magnetic anomaly targets encountered a Proterozoic dolomite bed containing disseminated magnetite and traces of chalcopyrite, while a third hole collared on a deep IP anomaly reached an altered Proterozoic dolerite containing minor pyrite. The fourth hole was sited on an existing base metal anomaly (Wehr's prospect), and passed through 18 m of a mineralised basal Cambrian limestone unit having 1 m thick stratal layers containing up to 0.25% Pb and 0.33% Zn.
