A study of regional aeromagnetic data has concluded that strong, untested basement anomalism is continuous along a trend leading west-southwest offshore from the rich Moonta - Wallaroo mining district. Three promising targets in Spencer Gulf, located within 7 km of the Wallaroo shoreline and underlying less than 7 metres depth of water, were identified from inspection of existing aeromagnetic data. A review of the prospect's likely copper potential was written and circulated to companies in an attempt to attract possible farminees to an offshore drilling programme.
