Following earlier identification by PIRSA of mineralised gossans located at the stratigraphic contact between the Cambrian Karinya Shale and Backstairs Passage Formation, exploration comprising rock chip, soil and stream sediment geochemical sampling, drilling (3 inclined RC and 2 inclined diamond holes totalling 312 m and 475 m respectively), and downhole geophysical surveys, targeted base metals within the Karinya Syncline. Anomalous base metal geochemistry was returned from the surface sampling, and downdip drilling of the contact yielded a best intersection of 4 m @ 3.5% Zn, 1.1% Pb and 10 ppm Ag. The mineralisation comprises sphalerite-galena contained within a carbonate facies below the Karinya Shale, and shows strong similarities to the Mississippi Valley style.
