Limited percussion drilling (2 holes, total 446 m) of inferred dipolar aeromagnetic anomalies in the vicinity of Ross Creek, 140 km north-east of Marla, and subsequent mineralogical examination of heavy mineral concentrates obtained from the drilled Mesozoic sedimentary sequence, have indicated that volcanogenic sediments derived from kimberlitic pyroclastics may be present, interbedded with the Cretaceous strata.
