Exploration, initially for rare metal elements, was carried out in the vicinity of diapiric structures intruded by leucogranite in the area between Arkaroola Village and Umberatana Homestead. Work comprising petrography, rock chip sampling, stream sediment sampling, geological mapping and trenching revealed only weakly anomalous geochemistry. Deposits of vermiculite encountered during this work were too fine-grained to be of economic value. Two RC drillholes totalling 396 m intersected gypseous intervals and abundant pyrite, but no assays of economic significance were recorded. Follow-up field inspection of isolated low order gold anomalies reported from BLEG drainage and outcrop rock sampling concluded that they were not indicative of a significant mineralised zone.
