Push tube sampling of lakebed sediments was carried out in two separate salt lake areas at the northern and southern extremities of a large dolomitic magnesite deposit located south-east of Salt Creek, adjacent to the Coorong. The northern area lake sediments have a high salt content, but are low in magnesium relative to calcium. The southern lake bed is very shallowly underlain by decomposed limestone, and the scant overlying material was not assayed.
