102 vertical open RC holes (total penetration 3699 m) were drilled along traverses laid out over an area extending 40-50 km north to north-west of Pinnaroo, targeting possible south-eastwards extensions to the Mindarie and Mercunda heavy mineral (HM) sands deposits which occur in Pliocene strandlines containing Loxton-Parilla Sand. The best intersection made was 6 m @ 1.29% HM from 15 m depth in drillhole KA077, but further investigation of these fine-grained occurrences was curtailed because of a low market acceptance for HM material in the 75-100 micron grainsize range.
