The Coober Pedy Ridge / Mount Woods Inlier project investigated a 170 km long east-west belt of medium to high grade Proterozoic metamophics and syn- and post tectonic granites, centred 25 km south of Coober Pedy, for Broken Hill type stratiform Zn-Pb-Ag deposits, and for Starra / Osborne style iron oxide - associated Cu-Au deposits. Work comprised RC and diamond drilling of aeromagnetic anomalies (408 holes, total 21,800 m; and 9 holes, total 2218 m, respectively), together with U-Pb dating, petrology, mapping and soil sampling, plus ground magnetic, gravity, EM and IP surveys. Anomalism intersected within accessible prospects was not sufficient to encourage further work. Prospectivity of the licences was significantly reduced by the prevention of exploration within heritage exclusion zones.
