Exploration work carried out 60 km north-west of Broken Hill initially sought Olympic Dam type Fe oxide Cu-Au mineralisation associated with granitoid equivalents of the Hiltaba Suite, and subsequently, Ernest Henry style stratiform Pb-Zn-Ag associated with the Bimba Formation. Ground magnetic and EM surveys were followed by diamond drilling of magnetic highs (5 holes, total 963 m) which returned only one anomalous interval of 7 m @ 0.14 g/t Au from 156 m depth. Core sample petrology identified albite-quartz-magnetite sedimentary / volcaniclastic host rocks of hydrothermal origin. However, TEM, gravity and ground magnetic surveys plus 19 RC holes (total 3877 m) sited over the resultant anomalies did not reveal further significant country rock alteration or Cu-Au mineralisation. One 406 m RC drillhole over a gravity anomaly returned several intervals of weak to anomalous Zn and Pb in graphitic and pyritic metasediments, the best being 2 m @ 658 ppm Zn from 272 m depth, and 6 m @ 1760 ppm Pb from 302 m depth. The intersections are a continuation of the mineralisation identified at prospects located in adjacent NSW. No evidence of thickening of the overlying amphibolite rock unit was found in the latter drillhole, which might have explained the observed gravity anomaly.
