Calcrete sampling, mapping, and RAB and aircore drilling (211 holes, total 7334 m) were carried out 20 km north of Penong, in an area underlain by Hiltaba Suite granitoids, Archaean gneisses and a major associated shear zone. Although geochemical values were only weakly anomalous, significant alteration assemblages were identified from petrological studies of RAB drill cuttings samples. 25 loam samples yielded one chromite indicator grain.
