Reconnaissance mapping done in two portions of the subject licence located close to the township of Meningie, and 15 km to the south, excluded these two areas as potential sources of gypsum. A sample from the depth interval surface to 0.8 m in the Recent sediment profile lying to the south-west of Meningie returned 51% CaSO4.2H2O from calcareous clay.
