Possible economic buried ilmenite-rutile-zircon heavy mineral sand deposits were targeted along buried Pliocene strandlines of Loxton-Parilla Sand in an area abutting 120 km of the SA-Victoria State Border between Naracoorte and Mount Shaugh. RC/aircore traverse and stratigraphic reconnaissance drilling performed north of Bordertown (44 vertical open holes, total penetration 1554 m) revealed only minor (0.1% HM) visible accumulations of heavy minerals in recovered and panned drill cuttings samples of the beach/dune sands, so no samples were sent for analysis.
