Exploration of an area on the eastern flank of the Benagerie Ridge, 100 km north of Mingary, targeted stratiform Pb-Zn-Ag mineralisation associated with metasediments of the Bimba Formation, an interpreted lateral equivalent of the Broken Hill Group. Following the identification of targets from aeromagnetic, ground magnetic and gravity surveys, initial diamond drilling (4 holes, total 978 m) and petrology revealed anomalous Au and Ag, and suggested that there was additional potential for porphyry, skarn or Olympic Dam - type mineralisation. RC drilling of magnetic features (3 holes, total 392 m) intersected unaltered granitoids from which zircon geochronology returned Hiltaba Suite ages: one 176 m deep drillhole sited on a gravity anomaly intersected altered volcanics. Aircore drilling (18 holes, total 993 m) returned anomalous Zn, Cu, Pb and Ag from limestone and weathered siltstones and volcanics. Further diamond (2 holes for 823 m), aircore (204 holes for 16,229 m) and RC (11 holes for 2549 m) drilling tested magnetic, gravity and TEM anomalies. Weathered haematitic metasediments, graphitic pelites and magnetite-rich granitoids were intersected, but no significant mineralisation was encountered. Further exploration of the same area is being undertaken under current ELs 2560 and 2664.
