The area surrounding the town of Glendambo, 260 km north-west of Port Augusta, is underlain by a prospective crystalline basement composed of Proterozoic Gawler Range Volcanics, Hiltaba Suite granite and Gairdner Swarm dykes, buried beneath a variable thickness of Proterozoic Pandurra Formation, Mesozoic Algebuckina Sandstone and Cainozoic sediments. Two areas having lesser depth to basement were identified following initial calcrete and rock chip geochemical sampling and RAB / aircore drilling (57 holes, total 2109 m). Further RAB / aircore drilling (13 holes, total 516 m) at Pinery Dam prospect returned no anomalous values. Two RC holes of 150 and 180 m depth intersected minor sulphides, but did not explain the cause of related gravity and ground magnetic anomalies. Petrology undertaken on drillhole samples identified altered lithologies from the Gawler Range Volcanics and Gairdner Dyke Swarm.
