Exploration for buried sedimentary uranium occurrences which might be amenable to extraction by in-situ leach mining was carried out on four contiguous ELs located immediately south and east of Lake Frome. Compilation of previous drilling data showed that there were 61 abandoned drillholes located on the presently surrendered areas, and the sites of many of these were subsequently visited during field reconnaissance, with their collar locations being accurately determined by differential GPS. New drilling that was carried out on the now surrendered areas consisted of three rotary mud holes for 306 m of aggregate penetration. This work indicated that these areas are unlikely to contain palaeochannels of the type known to host economic uranium mineralisation.
