Exploration within the Cultana Army Training Area, which is located to the west of Spencer Gulf just south of Port Augusta, targeted possible Proterozoic metasediment - hosted Cu-Au-U-REE mineralisation associated with the Hiltaba age Cultana Granite. Aeromagnetic interpretation and geological mapping identified several fault and alteration zones which were tested by MMI sampling. Later follow-up of promising targets was continually denied owing to target area access restrictions imposed during ongoing Commonwealth Defence Force operations, necessitating a consequent re-allocation of exploration priorities.
