Ground magnetic surveys were carried out 75 km north-east of Ceduna over an area of masking Tertiary and Cainozoic cover underlain by a basement of Mulgathing Complex and syntectonic Lincoln Complex and Hiltaba Suite granitoids. Drilling of resultant anomalies (46 aircore holes, totalling 1863 m) yielded, at one locality, elevated Ni and Cr values (max 0.26% and 0.15% respectively) in weathered ultramafic rocks. Calcrete geochemical sampling returned anomalous Au, Pb and Cu associated with shear zones. Elevated Co, Ni, Zn and As were also detected, but it is suspected that the degree of supergene metal anomalism evident has been suppressed by the effects on groundwater circulation of impervious intervals within the Bridgewater Formation. No calcrete sampling was carried out to investigate specifically the Cr/Ni drillhole anomaly. Areas north of the vermin proof fence within the Yumbarra Conservation Park were not explored.
