Four styles of mineralisation formed the basis for exploration in the Paney-Buckleboo area, namely, stratiform sedex (Broken Hill style), shear-hosted epigenetic gold and base metals (Tunkillia style), skarn-related gold and base metals (Menninnie Dam style), and Olympic Dam style Au-Cu. Regional calcrete sampling at ~1 km centres recorded anomalous Ag to 161 ppb at over 18 sites, while detailed sampling over the Paney grid revealed no significant anomalism associated with earlier Billiton drillholes. Ground magnetic surveys over 23 traverses at two prospects defined magnetic targets which were subsequently drill tested. Thirteen aircore holes for 590.5 m at the Tinhut prospect intersected several strongly anomalous Ag-base metal zones, with a best intercept of 17 m at 10 ppb Au, 0.14% Cu, 0.24% Pb, 0.54% Zn and 15.2 ppm Ag. Two aircore holes and one RAB hole (126 m) at the Allalone prospect intersected polymict conglomerate and altered diorite with elevated Cu and Zn.
