The licensee completed 3 shallow drillholes (1 rotary air, 1 rotary cored and 1 abandoned) for 44.1 m on 14 March 1975 to sample outlying southerly and easterly sections of the kaolin deposit that had previously been discovered in the Mount Hope district by Abaleen Minerals. The aims were to evaluate deposit consistency over a distance of a few miles, and to compare the effects of the two drilling methods used on sample representative integrity. Two separate kaolin samples were recovered from the first two holes drilled, that had been put down at adjacent sites using the different drilling methods, and these were sent to the USA for comparative physical tests to determine their paper-coating physical parameters.
